In a quest to promote tourism and Malawi’s visibility on the international scene, local entertainment and music promoter Tonderai Banda and two entrepreneurs have teamed up to sell Malawi through short video clips.

Banda is working with photographer Eric Chan and videograph Sukez of HD Plus Creations in a promotion that will see people taking videos and pictures of their ideal places of interest in Malawi.

“We are looking for pictures and videos that portray Malawi in a positive way. As the competition progresses, they will be required to take different pictures under specific themes,” said Banda.

He said eventually they select a top 10 from each category.

“The winners will walk away with a Mira car each and do school in line with their categories. So, the project is looking for people with a passion for photography and videography,” said Banda, the chief executive officer of Entertainers Promotions.

He said the photos and videos will be watermarked to protect the art and will be displayed on a special page they will create.

He said the page will also act as a platform where interested people or companies can buy any work they are fascinated in.

“We will link the creators with interested organisations,” said Banda.

The project will be launched on December 4 at Comesa Hall in Blantyre during the Black and Gold Party to be headlined by South Africa’s DJ Tira.

In a separate interview, Sukez said the project has the capacity to transform Malawi’s image on the international scene.

“I am always interested in promoting Malawi through film because I have seen what other countries have achieved through videos and pictures,” he said.

Sukez called on people to take ownership of the project as it is for Malawi.

“It is important for the youth to take a leading role in promoting the country, we are the leaders of today and tomorrow,” he said.
