Prophecy comes from God—Mpochera

Listen to this article

There have been many prophecies from various prophets on different issues, some of which do not come to pass, while others are fulfilled. Prophet David Mpochera of the True Vine International Ministry in Chimwankhunda, Blantyre tells us the history of his ministry in this interview:

What is prophecy?

mpochelaProphecy is the communication from God to his people. Prophecies come only when there is need for God to communicate to the people; whether to warn or guide them so. We do not just give prophecy, but the prophetical call comes from God when there is need.

In prophetic ministry, the prophet is not allowed to speak his mind, but what God speaks to the people.

Who is a prophet?

The prophet is somebody who spends much time in prayer communicating to God and interceding for the people about their desires. He is the person God uses when He wants to communicate to his people. The prophet is also somebody who lives a Godly life. He spends time seeking God’s face. He/she has ears and eyes of God and stands for the truth, nothing else.

Tell me who are you?

I was born David Mpochera from the CCAP family at Mgundo Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Kuntaja in Chileka, Blantyre. My birthday is on February 17 1970. I attended primary school at Chilangoma Primary School before Zingwangwa Progressive Private Secondary School.During my childhood, I enjoyed playing football and going to church.

How did you become born again?

I always had the desire to serve God since I was a child. One day, I had a burning desire to fulfill my ambitions. This was when I was nine years old as I was praying. I have also prayed for many people and experienced powers and wonders through God working in me. I started to congregate with a Pentecostal church.

Now, according to Pentecostalism, I was not supposed to pray for and congregate with other people apart from those from that church. The leader of the church then chased me because I went against the church’s doctrines.

Those people whom I had been praying for forced me to start our own ministry and this is how we started. We started our church project in 2012, but we are yet to get to make a mark.

Where do you congregate right now? How is your membership?

We started meeting in my house in Chimwankhunda Township, but because of the fasting growing membership, we moved to Chimwankhunda Primary School. Currently, we are meeting in our own church that we are building here in Chimwankhunda. We have over 1 000 church members excluding those who just come and fellowship with us. We have branches in Phalombe at Phaloni, Chikwawa at Dyeratu and Chapananga while in Blantyre we are in Chimwankhunda and in Chilomoni Townships. We are intending to open and international branch in South Africa. We have some members from abroad. Our focus is based on Matthews 28:18.

Where do you get funding from?

Funds for our ministry come from within the church through tithes and it’s through this that we are building the church. I divide my time to suit the ministry and my family where God has blessed us with seven children. God gave me Rose to be my wife.
