Leader of Nothern Region based Altar of Liberty Church of all Nations, senior prophetic Dr Rex Kalolo, has said Malawi will continue going through harsh economic conditions for a while and has since appealed to Malawians for patience and restraint in the course of any economic reforms the new administration undertakes.

In his prophecy during celebrations marking his 40th birthday held at his Kalolo Tabernacle in Karonga, Kalolo observed that in the next few months, the prevailing economic conditions were likely to worsen and people would get bitter and disillusioned, prompting them to take to the streets.

“The end of the current economic situation isn’t now. We still have some more time to suffer. The current economic situation is going to get worse as the new administration will be implementing some reforms. These reforms will hurt the poor even more. Out of anger, people will take to the streets to demonstrate their bitterness and frustrations. I can see the breakdown of law and order in the next few months,” said Kalolo.

“This government is going to grant freedom to people to stage demonstrations. But I appeal to all fellow Malawians to refrain from causing mayhem as this would plunge the country into turmoil. Let us be patient even where it hurts. We have suffered for long and this could be prolonged, but at the end of the day, these reforms will bring joy to us all. Let us endure the pain.”

In his prayers for God’s intervention, guest of honour senior prophet F.T Samuel of Fellowship Church of All Creation, asked Malawians to seek the face of God “amid the current economic pain”.

“Malawians of diverse religious and political persuasions are going through economic pain. We can’t dispute this fact. But for us, as a nation to come out of this, let us with humility seek the face of God. Only the wisdom of God will see us through this situation,” said Samuel.

“We shouldn’t be in despair. At the end of this excruciating pain, Malawi is going to be a better country for all. Our endurance will bring unto us everlasting joy.”

Kalolo, a medical doctor by profession, founded the ministry last year and since then, Altar of Liberty Church of all Nations has become a beacon of hope for spiritual and social transformation for residents of Karonga and other parts of Malawi and beyond, according to the prophet.

Malawi has been going through severe economic challenges for the past few years. The new government of President Peter Mutharika, which was ushered into power following the May 20 tripartite elections, plans to implement some economic reforms, like controlled expenditure, to reverse the current situation.
