Parents-teacher associations (PTAs) and school management committees on Saturday dated Global Psycho-Social Consultancy on the improvement of examination results in their schools in Blantyre.

Government recently recognised Global Psycho-Social as providers of training in government schools aimed at improving examination results.

Speaking at the function, Blantyre District Education Office assistant coordinator for primary education advisers Arthur Khumbanyiwa welcomed the programme, saying it will reduce absenteeism and early pregnancies in schools and create a spirit of hard-working and competitiveness among pupils.

“This is a welcome idea and parents have to be sensitised [to the need to have consultants in their schools],” said Khumbanyiwa.

Global Psycho-Social Consultancy executive director Margaret Musyani asked the PTAs and school committees to involve them if they are to improve results.

“We have been to Stella Maris, Kasaye Girls in Karonga, Ndirande Hills as well as some private secondary and primary schools where results were overwhelming,” she said.
