Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre on Wednesday received a donation of assorted drug items including butterfly needles and syringes. The donation was solicited by Dr Noel Kayange, a special internal medicine at the hospital from Chain of Hope (COH). COH deals in training of cardiac surgery.
COH is a charity organisation being run by Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub whose interest is to improve cardiac care and run cardiac courses for surgery training.
Receiving the items, Themba Mhango, QECH chief hospital administrator described the donation as timely, saying it would assist the hospital since most public health facilities were struggling to have drugs in stock.
Mhango hoped that the organisation would continue with the good gesture.
