New Zeland based shooter Mwawi Kumwenda scored 48 times out of the 53 chances she had while Sindi Simtowe scored 11 times from 13 attempts.

It was Uganda’s Poscovia Peace who had a better scoring accuracy rate as she netted 38 baskets from 39 attempts while teammate Racheal Nayonga scored 15 times from 18 attempts. New Zealand and Jamaica meet later in the day.

The Queens must beat either Jamaica or New Zealand if they are to reach the Semi-finals, and be guaranteed a place in top four.

Queen’s continental rivals, South Africa’s Spar Proteas beat Wales 60-48 in Pool F and the team is also expected to face England and Australia.

Just like the Queens, the Spar Proteas will qualify for the Semi-finals if they beat a second team in their Pool and be guaranteed a place in the top four of World Netball Rankings.

The Queens’ next assignment is on Wednesday against New Zealand at 12:20pm.
