Rainbow Paints bonus victories worry Tigresses

Complex Tigresses have expressed concern over Diamonds’ continued collection of free points and 150-0 bonus victories in the Rainbow Paints Southern Region Netball League (SRNL).

Tigresses’ assistant coach Charles Mhango made the statement after Diamonds earned a second bonus victory following log-table anchors Antonio Sisters’ failure to show up at Blantyre Youth Centre (BYC) last weekend for the game. Diamonds also gained a similar win over Prison Sisters.

Thunders and Prison Sisters also won in similar fashion against Antonio Sisters.

“It is hardly possible for a team to win 150-0 during a match and the granting of such victories to teams due to failure of their opponents to show up at match venue dilutes the competition,’ said Mhango.

“As you know, sometimes a basket difference determines the league champions and we fear that such bonus wins by our opponents will negatively impact our chances of winning the title. We sweated to earn all our eight victories in the first-round while others are getting free points that come with incredible basket margins. This is not fair.”

In response, SRNL general secretary Annie Hanjahanja said they have also noted the setback and they will discuss how the problem can be sorted out.
