Ramadhan: It was a derby

Big Bullets consultant coach Nsazurwimo Ramadhan saluted their Blantyre rivals Azam Tigers for giving the TNM Super League leaders a good run for their money on Saturday.

Ramadhan called Tigers as rivals in a post-match interview at Kamuzu Stadium after beating them 2-0 to go nine points clear on the standings.

“You know Tigers and Bullets; we are like rivals in town. It was a derby, not an easy game. Congratulations to Tigers. They gave us a good run for our money,” said Ramadhan.

“Credit should also go to our boys. Physically, they were ready. The result is not a true reflection of the game. It could have been more, but the transition from the defence to attack was too slow,” he said.

Traditionally, Mighty Wanderers are Bullets’ rivals, but Ramadhan, who also had a stint with the Nomads after crossing the floor in 2001, felt Tigers are the toughest customers.

Wanderers lost both league games to Bullets this season and are now in the lower half of the 15-team table. Bullets have to face Blantyre United and Moyale Barracks to win the league title.
