Ramadhan won’t be in charge of Bullets

Big Bullets chairperson Kondi Msungama says Burundian coach Nsazurwimo Ramadhan will not be in charge of the team during his four-week sojourn.

Msungama was warding-off fears that Ramadhan’s arrival would mean the removal of head coach Elia Kananji and his backroom staff.

“I just want to make one clarification that Ramadhan will not be in charge of the team, rather he will be playing an advisory role because there have been some misconceptions that he will take over the mantle.

“We already have a technical panel in place comprising the head coach [Kananji], two assistant coaches [Mabvuto Lungu and Lloyd Nkhwazi], goalkeeper trainer [Swadick Sanudi] and team manager (Fundi Akidu) who are all under the technical director Billy Tewesa,” said Msungama.

He further said Ramadhan will be offering tactical advice prior to the match and at half-time.

Msungama, however, reiterated that Ramadhan will be helping the team more with technical advice on how best to improve fire-power.

“Otherwise the man is specifically here on holiday and he will only be assisting us as a member of the Bullets family,” said Msungama.

However, this is in contrast to the picture that the Bullets chairperson and general secretary Harold Fote gave that the Burundian was coming specifically to help Bullets improve their scoring deficiency and a budget of K1 million was allocated for his coming.

In a brief interview yesterday, Ramadhan said he was here on holiday and the issue of assisting Bullets was secondary.

He is reported to have also told the team’s coaches that he is not in the country to get anyone’s job.

Msungama confirmed that Ramadhan indeed briefed the coaches he would not take over the mantle, but offer technical advice where necessary.
