Rastas to celebrate Black History month
As the world commemorates Black History Month in February, the Rastafarian Nyahbinghi church will join the celebration with a public rally on February 16 at Manika ground in Balaka.
Chairperson of the event Limbani Makata says the event has been organised to bring different denominations together and learn more about Black History month.
“We want to celebrate the lives of both sung and unsung black heroes from Malawi and beyond.
“We have invited chiefs and other prominent members of society to appreciate what Rastafarians are capable of doing,” he said.
From Balaka, the grouping will hold a similar event at Ndirande community centre ground to commemorate the victory of Ethiopians whom they believe defeated the Italians in a war staged in 1896.
