RBM hails Airtel Malawi for new innovations

The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has hailed Airtel Malawi for being innovative in the country’s telecommunications industry.

RBM deputy governor Mary Nkosi praised the company in Lilongwe last week when the company launched its ‘Airtel Premier,’ an exclusive offer for its corporate customers in the country, whose entry qualification is by achievement and invitation by Airtel.

Among others, Airtel Premier will offer doorstep services for purchased products, surprise offers on customers’ special days, showroom dedicated section, double reward points, free product trials and will see top two customers shipped to Manchester, UK, for a game.

“This initiative dubbed Airtel Premier is no ordinary innovation. This portrays that Airtel as a service provider is giving more than voice and data, but to bring a human touch to the world of communication,” said Nkosi.

She said the new initiative signals that Airtel Malawi cares for its customers, adding that it will help to revolutionise Malawi’s telecommunications industry.

Nkosi noted that telecommunication is one key element in the socio-economic development of the country, stressing that such initiatives need to be commended and encouraged by all.

“The coming in of smart phones in the telecommunications industry worldwide has made communication life even simpler for everybody,” she said.

In his remarks, Airtel Malawi managing director Saulos Chilima said the company believes in introducing a special offer of products and services that would answer the taste of its clientelle.

He said the company found it necessary to classify its customers to enable it serve them according to their different needs

“This new innovation underscores Airtel’s commitment in revolutionising Malawi’s telecommunications industry,” said Chilima.
