Real Insurance Company Limited has promised Lilongwe golfers more tournaments in the coming year.

The company’s chief executive officer Grant Mwenechanya said in the past two years, Real Insurance has not been vigorous with golf, a sport he said creates a platform for interaction with its potential clients.

He was speaking during the prize presentation of a Ball Pool competition which the company organised at Lilongwe Golf Club on Wednesday.

“The competition has come at the right time when we are making the budget for the coming year. We are going to ensure that we organise more competitions. Next year, we promise to come to Lilongwe with a major tournament,” said Mwenechanya.

He said the commitment is part of the changes the company is going through after a 99 percent sell off of its shares to Britam, an international insurance company.

In the Ball Pool, Uddo Deppe came first in the men’s category followed by Mukesh Vashi. Tauribu Hamaan came third and Justin Mkandawire scooped the fourth position.

Maria Lee Cho was the sole winner in the women’s category while Collen Sibande won the longest drive.

The company also donated K100 000 (about $250) towards maintenance of the golf course.

Captain for the golf club, Ken Manda, thanked the company for the donation, saying it will assist in the maintenance work taking place at the course.
