Rehabilitation works at Chilomoni Police Sub-station in Blantyre, which was burnt down on June 21 2015 by angry residents, started on Monday. The renovations, spearheaded by Chilomoni Police Rehabilitation Task Force, are expected to cost about K16 million, according to the task force secretary Taona Mkandawire.
The task force also received K370 000 from New Namiwawa residents and members of the Chilomoni business community. The work is being jointly done by artisans from the Malawi Police Service (MPS) and Blantyre City Council (BCC).
