Malawi Red Cross Society has donated personal protective equipment (PPE) to Ntcheu District Hospital to fight against corona virus.
Speaking in an interview, Malawi Red Cross Society programme coordinator Leonard Maganga said the equipment will go a long way in helping fight the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We found it important to donate the equipment today to fight the pandemic. As we all know, we are now registering more new cases.
“We hope that our help will reach clinics and other health centres in remote areas since they deal with a lot of people who need to be protected from the pandemic,” he said.
Speaking after receiving the equipment, Ntcheu district medical officer Dr Emily Jenya said the equipment is important and will help to prevent Covid-19 in health facilities.
“As Ntcheu District Hospital, we are affected by Covid-19 just as the whole country is affected. So, the equipment given to us today will complement the materials we have received in the past,” she said.
The donated items included face masks, hand sanitisers, soap, water buckets and chroline.
