Referees across the country finally had a feel of the newly-bought Comstar Digital Full Duplex Wireless System, which was used over the weekend at the start of the second round of the TNM Super League.

Meant to improve communication and decision-making among referees and their respective assistants, the gadgets were used in several games, including the one between Moyale Barracks and Chikwawa United at Kalulu Stadium.

Southern Region Referees Committee (SRRC) chairperson Alfred Chasowa and National Referees Committee (NRC) general secretary Chris Kalichero confirmed the development.

“The start has so far been good and it gives the referees using the equipment some advantage when making decisions. We were given one gadget to sample during the off-season break and this has helped,” Chasowa said on Saturday.

The Super League of Malawi (Sulom) general secretary Williams Banda confirmed the start of the usage of the equipment, which TNM bought at K4 million (US$9 709).
