Regional finals in the secondary school French drama contest take place this Saturday, with 30 schools competing to book their ticket to the national finals slated for November 22 at Stella Maris.
According to festival coordinator, Poya Chapweteka, seven schools are expected to make it to the national finals.

“We are happy that some schools are participating in the contest for the first time. On the other hand, schools that have had an impact on French drama contest like Chaminade and St Michaels are not participating since French teachers there moved. I wish those responsible for moving teachers to replace them hastily for continuity’s sake,” said Chapweteka.

Four schools in the North battle it out at Marymount Secondary School in Mzuzu while eight schools compete at Likuni Boys Secondary School. In the South, the battle involves 12 schools at Ndirande Hill Secondary School in Blantyre.
According to Chapweteka, the schools will compete on a set theme: Le Conflit Entre la Tradition et la Modernite’.
