Reverend Kamponda resigns to join MDF

The Blantyre CCAP Synod says the General Assembly Council of the church will decide the way forward on the position of deputy moderator in June following the resignation of Reverend Andrew Kamponda.

Blantyre Synod general secretary, Reverend Alex Maulana, said Kamponda has joined the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) as chaplain.

“Reverend Andrew Kamponda resigned not as reverend but vice moderator because where he has gone he will serve as a minister.

“The General Assembly Council will meet in June to decide on the position. A decision will be made whether somebody will be chosen in acting capacity or it will remain vacant until August when we will conduct elections,” said Maulana.

Kamponda was also serving as moderator of Limbe CCAP Church.
