What promised to be an international breakthrough for Rising Choreos through Nollywood stars, is yet to materialise as years pass without progress in commitments.

The theatre company impressed Nollywood’s queen of acting Patience Ozwokor when she visited Malawi in July 2011 and featured in the group’s play to an extent that the film ace, famed Mama G, offered to help improve the play’s script for a movie.

The group’s director Joyce Mhango-Chavula, told The Nation in July that actor, aka Mama G took the script of the play titled The Return for improvement and restructuring into a motion picture.

In a follow-up interview, she said nothing has been done on the project. She, however, revealed that several arrangements to meet the actress have proved futile.

“She invited me and Susan Banda to Nigeria to work on some logistics for the movie, but we did not succeed because our visas delayed and she was in Germany. We then agreed to meet at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (Amaa) this year, but she did not show up,” said Mhango-Chavula.

Another Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot also showed interest in working with Rising Choreos. However, Mhango-Chavula refused to disclose the details and progress made on the deal.

Mhango-Chavula who hooked up with the two during their visit to Malawi said she would take advantage of the meeting to produce high-quality movies.

“I am patient. There are many projects I am doing with Desmond, but I cannot reveal them now. He and Mama G told me to wait and upon hearing from them I will tell you,” she said.

Efforts to get comments from the Nollywood stars proved futile as they did not respond to questionnaires.
