Ngondo inspires learners with her story

SOS Family Strengthening (FS) project Lilongwe area coordinator Lymon Thunde said learners in rural areas rarely meet professionals who can inspire him.

“By bringing these role models we are trying to raise academic aspirations. We want them to see for themselves that their hope for a successful future is only through education,” he said.

One of the role models who spoke on the day, Captain Gladys Ngonda from MDF, caught the attention of over 400 learners with her lifetime story.

“Like most of you, I did not come from a rich family.  But because of focus and hard work I made it in life. I made it as a medical doctor and after which I made it as an army officer. If called upon army duties to fight I will be able to shoulder my rifle to fight. If I am called up to carry out a surgery I will do that. You too can achieve what I have done and more,” he said.

Zodiak Broadcasting Station reporter and presenter Winnie Luwemba also inspired the young learners on how she became a journalists from humble beginning.
