Northern Education Division (NED) senior inspector of schools Jane Phiri says in-service training can improve the quality of education.

She said this at Mhuju cluster centre in Rumphi on Saturday during a teacher in-service training.

This is the form of training where teachers interact and share skills in line with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology mission statement.

“The in-service training will mean nothing if participants do not discharge knowledge and skills acquired.  Teachers should also monitor others within the locality,” said Phiri.

Rumphi district education manager (DEM) representative McPhine  Mzumara called for continued in-service trainings for teachers.

Organising chairperson of the training who is also Phwezi Boys Secondary School head teacher, Bright Banda, said the training highlighted challenging topics in science and English subjects.

Cluster chairperson Lloyd Kapote said they will organise more trainings to boost academic performance among students in schools. n
