Evirom FC can extend their cushion at the top of the log table to 15 points when they meet Polytechnic FC in a Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League (SRFL) Premier Division match today (Wednesday) at BAT Ground.

Evirom coach Paul Kachingwe has every reason to be confident after his charges triumphed 3-1 over Poly in the first round.

“It is a foregone conclusion that we will win. I can even predict that we will beat them by 5-1 or 5-0,” he said.

The coach’s confidence is not misplaced as he has a ruthless sniper in Harold Zulu. The striker has an incredible tally of 24 goals from 32 league games.

Add Taonga Munthali and Harold’s young brother Wongani to Evirom’s striking force, then you have a razor-sharp attack which should stretch to the limit Poly who are smarting from a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Cobbe Barracks last Sunday.

Poly stand-in coach McDonald Mtetemera could not comment yesterday as he was attending a funeral. Coach Patricio Kulemeka excused himself from some games as he focuses on Under-17 trial games for Surestream Academy.

Evirom have 72 points, trailed by Thondwe United on 60 points from 31 games whereas Chikhwawa United occupy the third slot on 56 points from also 31 matches. In another fixture today, Chikhwawa United welcome Chanco, who crumbled 7-1 to Evirom last Saturday. Chikhwawa are in confident mode having hammered Thondwe 4-0 on Saturday.
