Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has bought a latest Kia Sorento vehicle from HTD Limited to be used by Flames coach Ronny van Geneugden at a K10 million discount.

The vehicle, whose value is K22 million duty-free, has been bought at K12 million and was officially handed over to FAM yesterday in the presence of the coach.

Van Geneugden gets the feel of the vehicle

HTD sales manager Sandra Goto said they are excited with the partnership they have with the football governing body.

“We are really proud to be associated with FAM and when they approached us through their commercial and sales director [Limbani Matola] for assistance, we were excited and the K10 million difference is our contribution towards the cause.

“We are hopeful that the vehicle will help the coach in turning the Flames into one of the best teams,” she said.

FAM general secretary Alfred Gunda expressed gratitude to the motor vehicle dealer, saying: “For Ronny to ably execute his duties, he will need transport and it was for that reason we approached HTD and we appreciate their contribution quite a lot.

“This is the seed that you have sown towards football development.”

On his part, van Geneugden said he was excited to get a vehicle that will help him travel nationwide to watch games and identify talent.
