Sadc launches 2015 media awards

The Southern African Development Community (Sadc) has announced the launch of the 2015 Sadc Media Awards and the thematic Sadc Water Media Awards in the fields of print, radio, television and photo journalism.

A statement released by the regional bloc calls for entries that were published or broadcast by a registered media house or website from Sadc member States from January to December 2014.

media“All works entered should be in one of the Sadc working languages- English, Portuguese and French-and any national indigenous language of the Sadc region,” reads part of the statement.

The statement also says the entries’ themes must be based on issues that promote regional integration such as agriculture, infrastructure, economy, culture, water and sports.

The materials should be submitted in their original forms such as newspaper cuttings, websites, magazines, newsletters, audio compact discs (CD) or video cassettes or digital versatile discs (DVD) before March 31 2015.

National Adjudication Committees (NACs) in each member State will screen entries before forwarding them to the Regional Adjudication Committee (RAC) which will select winners from each category who are expected to cart home $2 000 (about K900 000).
