The musician explained: “I have decided to change my name to Smak because many people were finding it difficult to pronounce my name especially when I travel to perform in foreign countries. It is my vision to go international with my music career so the new name will be advantageous to me.”

He added that many people have been confusing him with his father, Patrick Simakweli, who is a veteran musician and chairperson of Music Association of Malawi (Sothern Region chapter).

Simakweli has three albums to his credit and the DVD will carry few songs from each of the albums namely Kasitepe, Kaunjika and Chako Nchako.
