“Get ready for sand festival 2016. Bigger and better. 28/29/30 October,” announced the festival’s founder Lucius Banda.

With fun on tap, plenty of sun and, of course, the stunning Lake Malawi to cool down in, the festival acts as a platform for exposing young and developing talent,  it also highlights local tourism and culture, among other things.

Last year, Sand Festival made headlines when it hosted Jamaican dancehall reggae artist, Busy Signal which saw thousands of fans flooding Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima.

However, the legendary musician did not hint on the artist headlining this year’s festival saying: “We are still working on that.

“But what people should know is that we have cast our net wider and we are going to bring a surprise, big headliner.”
