The TNM initiated Sapota Mapeto SMS promotion has dropped considerably as the momentum has been affected by winding up of the Super League season a fortnight ago.

According to the latest draw conducted on Wednesday in Blantyre, even Big Bullets, who usually make more than K400 000 in a fortnight, made K286 188 in the past two weeks while their rivals Mighty Wanderers accumulated K129 388.

The 11th draw has seen Bullets and Nomads earning K7.56 million and K3.58 million respectively. Silver Strikers are third on K1.2 million whereas Red Lions remain the least earner at K4 592.

Overall, the promotion has generated K15 million.

TNM public relations and sponsorship manager Limbani Nsapato said the drop was expected.

“Now that it is off-season the drop was somehow expected, but we urge the teams and the media to keep up the hype to generate more revenue which will help the clubs as they cannot generate gate revenue since it is now off season.

“They (clubs) have an obligation to look after their players and in absence of the gate revenue, Sapota Mapeto promotion can help them generate more revenue,” said Nsapato.

During the draw several participants won cell phones, footballs, vuvuzelas and T-shirts. The promotion runs up to January 25 2015.
