Having stolen the show during last year’s Lake of Stars (LoS) Festival at Sunbird Nkopola, South African music outfit, Uhuru, returns to Malawi for a show at Robin’s Park in Blantyre on November 19.
Courtesy of Sharks Media, the group is expected to jet into the country a day before the concert that will be spiced up by performances by some local musicians.

“For a long time, Blantyre has been lagging behind in terms of hosting events by international acts, so this is a deliberate move to bring Uhuru to Blantyre. Better still, the choice of Robin’s Park seeks to take Uhuru down to local fans,” said Sharks Media marketing manager Nick Chitsvatsava.
He said tickets to the show will be sold both in advance and at the door.
Chitsvatsava added that Robin’s Park was also picked to afford as many patrons as possible given Uhuru’s profile.
“We want Malawians who can hardly afford to go to the lakeside to watch international acts to do so at Robin’s Park. We have not yet come up with the list of local artists to support the main act,” he said.
The kwaito/house group is popular for producing the hit single Khona which was performed by Mafikizolo. They are also famous for the hit Y-tjukutja.
Signed to Kalawa Jamee, the group comprises Themba Sekowe, Nqobile Mahlanu, Sihle Dlalisisa and Xelimpilo Simelan. n
