Save the Children has donated bicycles and family planning tool kits to 30 youths in Ntcheu.

The beneficiaries will work as Youth Community-Based Distribution Agents in traditional authorities (T/As) Masasa and Ganya and sub-traditional authorities Mkutumula and Tsikulamowa.

Speaking during the handover on Tuesday, Save the Children Ntcheu district project manager James Gausi said the donation was part of the Youth Empowerment Project that seeks to promote access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH).

“The items will help in the provision of SRH services, including family planning, in the wake of Covid-19 which has affected young people to access such services,” he said.

On his part, Ntcheu district director of health and social services Stephen Macheso commended Save the Children for the donation.

He said: “Some girls get pregnant due to lack of access of SRH services.

“So, I urge the beneficiaries to use the materials for intended purpose.”

A beneficiary Elisa Manyozo from T/A Masasa said she was pleased that she will easily access SRH services.

“It was difficult to reach other places, especially during the rainy season. With the bicycle, I will be able to reach many youths,” she said.

The items were funded by Save the Children Italy.
