Scorpions offer business opportunity

Hockey outfit, Scorpions, has offered jerseys and all team attire advertising space for companies in return for sponsorship of the team’s trip to Zimbabwe for the 2012 Africa Cup of Clubs Hockey Championships.

The team needs K6 million (about $20 000) to travel to Bulawayo for the tournament that will run from December 1-8 2012.

“Our club is still comparatively small and does not have a sponsor. Our funds are not big and we function on winnings from various hockey competitions.

“As such, we are appealing for sponsorship from well-wishers. In return for their sponsorship, we will display their advertising materials at prominent places. We are also willing to put organisations’ logos on our uniforms,” said Scorpions manager, Alex Mpasa, in a statement released on Thursday.

HAM sponsored the team last year, but this year the association said it has not funds.

The funds will cater for the team’s expenses such as food, accommodation, transport, uniforms and tournament fees.

According to the host Hockey Association of Zimbabwe, the event will be hosted at Khumalo Hockey Stadium (KHS).
