Sunbird Tourism Limited’s Search for a Star talent show, kicks off today with auditions at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi.

The competition is open to contestants aged between 18 and 35 and eviction shows will take place between September 28 and November 16 this year.

From Nkopola the auditions move to Sunbird Lilongwe on Sunday, August 25 then to Sunbird Mzuzu the following day. Sunbird Livingstonia Beach in Salima is next on Wednesday, August 28 then Sunbird Ku Chawe in Zomba on Friday August 30 before wrapping up at Sunbird Mount Soche on Sunday and Monday (September 1 and 2).

The eviction shows start from September 28 to November 16 and will alternate between Sunbird Mount Soche and Sunbird Capital. The finale will be held in Lilongwe on November 30.

The judges are music pundits Marvin Hanke, Dumisani Mfune and Mildred Mphande.

“So far we have received great response from the public, a lot of people have been coming through to the hotels and calling through to enquire on audition dates and to register. We are well prepared to start looking for the diamond in the rough who will become Malawi’s next singing sensation.

“All audition venues are set and ready to host contestants, our judges are also ready to get on the road and discover new talent. Sunbird owns the show, which is being managed by E-Wallet team. Times TV and MBC are our partners and AXA is the official transporter of Sunbird Search For a Star contestants,” said Sunbird Tourism Limited public relations officer Akossa Mphepo.

She said that so far they have had over 200 online enquiries.
