Njawala: We have had problems

With less than a few months to go before Sunbird Search for a Star returns, organisers are calling on local designers to partner them during this year’s series.

Since the inception of the show, dressing has always been a challenge for the organisers with the contestants doing with whatever they have.

During the 2012 season, only the finalists had the pleasure of being dressed by one of the boutiques in Blantyre.

“We have always had problems with dressing the contestants due to lack of shop owners and designers coming in to sponsor us. We had no option but to go ahead with the show.

“But as we are making preparations for this year’s show, we are calling on shop owners like boutiques and designers to look at the show as an opportunity for them to develop their business,” said projects manager Felix Njawala in an interview.

He said in turn, whosoever is going to jump at this opportunity, will be given maximum publicity for their products.

“We are looking for at least two people to take up the role of dressing our contestants this time around. It is our wish that from the word go, the contestants should be dressed as one way of improving the show to greater standards,” he explained.
