Years after releasing their first duet Sindili Choncho, Wendy Harawa and Lulu have teamed up again to release their second collaboration I Believe.

Their first song together hit the airwaves 17 years ago and it became an instant hit.

Wendy (R) and Lulu have come a long way in their musical journey

In an interview on Wednesday, Harawa said she felt the time was ripe to record something with Lulu again.

She said: “I have come a long way with Lulu. From the early days of our music careers to where we are now, we have a better understanding of each other both musically and personally.

“He knows my vocals very well and how I do things. That is why he recorded and produced I Believe.”

Harawa said that Lulu is also the one who recorded and produced Sindili Choncho.

“Actually, I dreamt about that song before recording it. It happened the same way with I Believe. So, it also connected me to him so that we continue our journey,” she said.

Harawa said she was motivated to write the song now that she is a strong Christian.

“I look back at the things that I have done and gone through. And to see that I have overcome all, I am very encouraged,” she said.

In a separate interview, Lulu said the song made him reconnect with a fellow artist who has been part of his musical journey.

“Wendy is more like a sister to me and we have been like that since day one. Music has made us who we are. We have come a long way though we have been in different places,” he said.

I Believe is part of an album Harawa is going to release later this year.
