Seriously looking for a husband?

Marriage counsellor, Hastings Phale, says in many marriages women are the ones who suffer the most and some of the issues include lack of attention from their spouse and infidelity issues.

According to him, some of these problems come about because of the places where these people met and the circumstances that brought these two together.

“Looking for a partner should seriously be considered by many as something not to be taken for granted. We are talking about the man or woman one is likely going to spend the rest of their lives with, so there is a need to tread carefully.

“Usually when a woman is in her early twenties, issues of marriage are usually put at the back of the mind. But when one realises that the clock is ticking and no one is approaching, most women become worried. It is usually at this time they would go for anything or anyone as long as they have someone to call a husband,” he says.

Phale further says praying for a partner is a good step in life.

“I think with all the earnest and serious talk about finding a soul mate, we sometimes forget one of the most important things we can do for ourselves – pray to God. Have faith and wait patiently. God’s time is the best and for a woman who is looking for a man to settle down with, it is important to be serious.

“We have all made mistakes in life, but if one wants to repent, they can do so earnestly and wait upon God. As people, we need to be clear that we cannot find marriage partners in drinking joints or any other compromising places. We need to be careful on this. Much as there is no specific place, marriages whose foundation is not clear, are bound to have many problems,” he added.
