Veteran golfer Bashir Sheriff on Saturday turned on a bewitching display to emerge champion of this year’s Business Computer Services (BCS) Limited Golf Tournament at Blantyre Sports Club (BSC).
The weather could not have been kinder as the scorching summer conditions briefly gave way to a cool breeze which the 61-year-old golfer used to perfection.

The 23 handicapped golfer had a gross of 88 to come out with a 65 nett. He got a slate 10 HD and a trophy as his prize.
“I am 61 years old and having won my 61st golf trophy last month, this comes as a bonus. My secret was patience and good positioning, I was very relaxed today,” said Sheriff who went on to thank BCS for hosting a wonderful tournament.
Playing off handicap 26, Arnes Araujo emerged the winner in women’s category with 105 gross, netting 79. She got a slate 10 HP and a trophy. Lucy Ganiza was her runner-up.

It was a wonderful evening for the Araujos as Arnes’ 15 handicapped husband, Gerson, clinched the second position with a gross of 83 to net 68. He walked away with a trophy and slate 7 HD. Blossoming  golfer Symon Moses, playing off 17 handicap, scooped the third position in the men’s category with a gross of 76 to nett 69 while Francis Mwansa finished fourth.
In subsidiary category, Harold Lungu had the longest drive for men on hole 13 while Teri Amaro claimed the women’s prize. Mayamiko Kalizang’oma was nearest to the pin on hole five while no woman managed the feat.

Immediate past golf captain Hudson Kantwanje, Chimwemwe Chimwaza and Joseph Suwedi had two clubs and got K8 000 each.
BSC managing director James Chimwaza said the annual tournament is organised as one way of thanking customers for their support.
“We are very retaliatory to our nature and when the business community has spoiled us, we believe that we should retaliate.

“We have experienced trust and with that, we have experienced growth because of your support. We keep to our projection and vision and also through such events, we find an opportunity to share with you technology update,” said Chimwaza who also introduced BCS’ partners Axiz and HP.
BSC golf captain John-Gift Mwakhwawa thanked BCS for hosting a wonderful tournament that had wonderful prizes.
