Defending champions Silver Strikers bagged three points in Blantyre after beating their partners in Balaka saga Mighty Wanderers 2-0.

Nomads ate a humble pie when they went down 2-0 in the opening game of the new season of TNM Super League.

Silver and Nomads both were punished by Sulom for the chaos in Balaka and start the season with -9 points and -6 points respectively.

Today’s win for Silver means they have reduced the deficit to -6 points.

The game watched by a sizable crowd was expected to produce a thrilling start to the season.

However, the Nomads were not their usual self and fell for Rodrick Gonani’s sword who slotted in both goals for the Bankers.

Meanwhile the Malawi Under 20 football team has defeated South Africa 1-0 in Johannesburg.
