Silver move up to second position

Silver Strikers on Saturday moved up to second position from third of the TNM Super League following their emphatic 4-0 victory over Epac FC at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

The Bankers have dislodged Mafco who were clobbered 3-0 by Moyale at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa.Silver-strikers

 

It was the fourth straight league win for the revitalised Bankers under the tutelage of their legends—Young Chimodzi and Lovemore Fazili.

They now have 32 points from 18 games, nine short of leaders Big Bullets who, however have a game in hand.

A spirited second half show by the Bankers saw Peter Wadabwa score a brace while Green Harawa and Lucky Malata claimed one apiece.

It was a fitting revenge for Silver who lost 1-0 in the first round.

Epac had an opportunity to kill the game in the first half but,  theysquandered numerous chances.

Peter Wadabwa drew first blood in the 62nd minute, connecting home a cross from a Ndaziona Chatsalira. A few minutes later Harawa claimed the second with a simple tap-in. Then Lucky Malata headed home the third from a Chatsalira corner kick.

Wadabwa closed the score sheet in the dying minutes.

“We learned from the mistakes we made in the first half and changed our strategy. I credit the players for the good recovery. We responded well,” said Fazili.

Epac coach Abbas Makawa addmited losing the plot in the first half in which they missed many scoring chances.

At Chitowe in Dwangwa, Moyale were on fire against Mafco with Kondwani Chirwa claiming a double while Lloyd Njaliwa scored the other goal. Moyale have now moved two places up to seventh position with 24 points from 19 games.

At Nankhaka Stadium Blue Eagles beat Mzuni 2-0. Eagles are now third also with 32 points.
