Silver Strikers are determined to cement their lead on the TNM Super League log table this weekend in their away fixtures against MTV Max Bullets and defending champions Nyasa Big Bullets.

The Bankers are at the summit of the 16-team league with 26 points from 12 games, a point ahead of second-placed Mafco, who have played 13 games.

Victories against Max Bullets at Kalulu Stadium in Nchalo, Chikwawa this afternoon and Big Bullets at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre tomorrow will propel Silver to 32 points and remain with a single game to complete their first-round fixtures.

“We are determined to complete our first-round fixtures at the top of the table and these two games are key to our dream,” said Silver coach Lovemore Fazili.

“We know it will not be easy considering that we are playing away and against teams that are also fighting for better positions on the table, but our determination is greater than the obstacles we are going to face.”

But Big Bullets team manager Rahim Ishmail, whose team stands at ninth place with 19 points from 11 games, said they will not let a loss spoil their great mood and form following their winning of the Presidential Cup last week and the 5-1 massacre of Max Bullets in the league on Wednesday.

“We are marching on to more victories and no team can stop us now,” he said.

Max Bullets coach Trevor Kajawa said they are looking forward to earning their first victory in the league this weekend. They anchor the log table with four points from draws in 13 matches.

In other games today, Be Forward Wanderers take on Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium while Mzuzu University (Mzuni) FC will host Wizards at Mzuzu Stadium.

Wanderers are seventh on the ladder with 20 points from 11 games whereas Eagles are third with 25 points from 12 fixtures. Mzuni are sixth with 21 points from 13 matches as Wizard are 13th with 12 points from 12 games.

The Nomads go into this afternoon’s showdown buoyed by four straight league wins. n
