Silver Strikers have instructed their technical panel to stop Escom United defender Chipiliro Jose from training with the club until investigations into match-fixing allegations levelled against him are completed.

According to a report carried by The Daily Times recently, Jose is alleged to have conspired with Silver’s general secretary Owen Munthali and executive committee member Martin Chibweya to fix the decisive TNM Super League game between Escom and the Bankers which the latter won 1-0.

Jose and the two officials are currently on suspension pending separate investigations instituted by Sulom and Silver Strikers FC.

Silver’s chairperson Dr. McDonald Mafuta-Mwale on Tuesday said he had instructed the club’s technical panel to stop Jose from training with the club.

“We have stopped him from training until the findings of the investigations currently under way are finalised,” said Mafuta-Mwale.

Silver recently instituted their own investigations into the match-fixing allegations.

According to a press statement from Silver co-signed by trustees board chairperson Kelvin M’mangisa and secretary Meg Kajiyanike, the club claimed it operates on the highest level of integrity and professionalism and has never at any point in time been involved in match-fixing activities.
