The 2013/14 TNM Super League kings, Silver Strikers players and technical team members will share half of the K8 million (about $20 000) championship money for the title they retained last Tuesday.

Silver have 27 players and five technical panel members eligible to share the spoils, confirmed Silver general secretary Mike Tembo on Monday.

“Whenever we are signing them, this is factored in each individual’s contract — that the squad will share 50 percent of every trophy won. Each individual will get his money depending on the number of appearances to be provided by the team manager,” said Tembo.

The players have since been sent on off-season break while the club scouts for new players to blend with the current squad. There are no players leaving so far, according to Tembo.

Silver captain Lucky Malata confirmed about the prize money sharing, but said the executive committee was better placed to comment further.

The Bankers won the league title for a third time on the trot with a three-point cushion after seeing off Mighty Wanderers with a 2-1 win at Kamuzu Stadium last Tuesday. It was a replay following their December 28 aborted match at Balaka Stadium where violence flared up.

Silver wound up the season on 53 points, followed by Moyale Barracks (50 points) and Mafco (49 points).
