“We’ll be extending his contract probably by a year having been impressed with his performance last season,” said the club’s chairperson McDonald Mafuta-Mwale.

He added: “Of course, we do not want to be seen as if we are imposing decisions on the club’s next executive committee, but our feeling is that the coaching panel has done well and deserves an extension of their tenure.”

Ndawa, whose contract expired at the end of last season, could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Apart from Ndawa, Silver’s coaching panel comprises his deputies Hellings Mwakasungula and Itaye Nundwe and team manager Sibusiso Padambo.

The club’s general secretary Owen Munthali was quoted by the press recently as saying they have come up with April 14 and 21 as tentative dates for elections.
