The Bankers managed to beat a 48–hour deadline to contest the ban and a K1.1 million (about $3 235) fine as punishment after being found guilty of a number of chargers of misconduct acts during their Super League match against Epac last Sunday at Silver Stadium.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda said the appeal may apply to the fine, but the ban will go ahead.

“The disciplinary committee will decide on the day for hearing. But we should make it clear that the ban will go ahead as they play KB at Civo Stadium,” said Banda

Sulom also demanded that Silver chairperson Dr. McDonald Mafuta–Mwale withdraw his comments that Sulom were witch-hunting and imposed the fine as a fundrasing drive.

Mafuta–Mwale apologised and withdrew his comments in an interview with MBC Radio 1 on Friday.
