Holders and leaders, Silver Strikers are determined to again avoid underrating Blantyre United in today’s home TNM Super League top-of-the-table title contest.

Silver, on top with 51 points from 23 games, made the huge mistake of taking Blantyre United for granted in the first round, only to be punished with a 2-1 defeat.

Therefore, going into today’s match at Silver Stadium, the Bankers general secretary Owen Munthali said they would treat the Elia Kananji boys, placed third on 48 points from 25 games, with utmost respect.

“They have proved to be a good side with exciting youngsters. We will treat them with the respect they deserve,” Munthali said on Thursday.

Silver have been boosted by the instant peak in form of Peter Pindani who has returned from injury to score in consecutive games. Ndaziona Chatsalira and Ndaona Daisi have also proved that they are more than wingers.

Experienced Rodrick Gonani has remained consistent in front of goal; getting past the 10-goal mark every season for Silver who are chasing a third consecutive league title.

That aside for Silver, inspiring league home form of only one loss in 13 matches is a factor which Blantyre United, who will be without talisman Jimmy Chikulekule, need to be mindful of. The midfielder is at Matchedje de Maputo in Mozambique.

“There are other options ready to step in, but I cannot deny the fact that we will miss Chikulekule,” Kananji explained during the week.

Kananji’s midfield options include Osward Maonda and Victor Limbani who can do the creative job for strikers Brown Mizeye and Sparrow Msowoya, who have 12 league goals apiece, to do the final job.
