Silver’s Tembo out for six weeks

Silver Strikers midfielder Blessings Tembo has fractured his left leg again, barely a month after recovering from another injury and will be out for six weeks.

Tembo suffered the injury during last Wednesday’s TNM Super League game against Airborne Rangers at Chitowe Stadium in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota. The match ended in a goalless draw.

He also sustained a similar injury in a 2015 pre-season strength-testing match against Epac FC at Silver Stadium.

That time he stayed out of action for eight weeks.

A scan at the hospital shows that Tembo fractured his tibia (shinbone) when he collided with an opponent.

He is currently in plaster of Paris (PoP) to be removed on January 1 2016.

In an interview on Tuesday, Tembo expressed disappointment with the injury.

“I fractured my leg again,” he said. “This [injury] will surely pull me back. I just started playing for a month and I am into it again. As for now, I can conclude that my season is over until next year. But I believe God knows what is in store for me in as far as football is concerned.”

Tembo has been instrumental in most of Silver Strikers games, scoring vital goals and assists.

Before his injury, Tembo earned a regular call-up in Flames squad but only featured once in an Africa Nations Championship match against Mozambique at Kamuzu Stadium. n
