Simso League breaks August 19

Northern Region Football Association (NRFA) Simama and Sons (Simso) Premier League first round wraps up on August 19.

NRFA fixtures secretary Ollens Msonda said teams are expected to rest for two weeks.

So far, majority of the teams are remaining with two games to complete the first round.

Meanwhile, Chitipa United are still leading the log table with 43 points from 17 games played. They have won 13 games and drew four.

Bolero United are second with 37 points from 18 games while Ekwendeni Hammers are on third position with 32 points from 17 games.

Chitipa United general secretary Pickford Kamanga said their want to bounce back into the topflight league.

“We will finish the first round on the top of the table. However, we will not relax during the break, instead we will continue training. As indicated earlier, our focus is to be champions and return to the TNM Super League,” he said.

NRFA vice-chairperson Mbonekera Msiska has since commended teams for maintaining discipline in the first round.

“The games have gone on smoothly. No much violences were reported. We expect this to continue,” he said.
