Skippers Senior and Skippers Youth’s dominance in the K1 million (about $2 500) Central Region Peter Mutharika Women Football League continued at the weekend when both teams put up brilliant performances to collect maximum points.

The two teams are currently occupying the top two positions in the league where Skippers Senior is leading the pack.

In addition, Skippers Senior’s Linda Kasenda is leading the chase for the Golden Boot Award with 22 goals.

Both teams had a successful weekend when they collected full points from two games.

On Saturday, the leaders thumped Kamuzu Barracks (KB) 16-0 while the youth side whipped Children of Nation 10-0.

Kasenda scored five goals while Chisomo Kazisonga netted four. Dyce Lingo, Ratipher Malunjika and Regina Demudemu claimed a brace each while Bridget Mkuzilire scored one goal for the senior team.

In the other match, Fatsileni Kazembe and Mbinyo Pafupi scored four goals each for Skippers Youth while Tikomenji Zidana and Jane Chimombo netted a goal each.

On Sunday, the senior side collected points on a silver platter after Chilinde Queens failed to turn up for a game at Silver Stadium while Skippers Youth beat Chisomo Academy 2-0 through goals from Fatsileni Kazembe and Stella Malunjika.

Skippers Senior is leading the table on 18 points from six games.

The junior side is on second position on 16 points from six games.

Skippers FC team manager Charles Mwenda said he was satisfied with the two team’s performance.

“This shows how serious the players are to win the championship and Golden Boot Award. It pleases the sponsors to be associated with the winning teams,” said Mwenda

In other results, Chisomo Academy and Chilinde Queens and Kamuzu Barracks and Queen Eagles settled for goalless draws.
