Snipers overcome KB to start CRVL on high

Snipers Ladies displayed a superb performance to thrash Kamuzu Barracks 3-2 in a Central Region Women Volleyball League (CRWVL) opener at the weekend.

Snipers overcame a 2-0 second set deficit to carry the day at Lilongwe Community Centre ground.

They trailed the first two sets 20-25 and 18-25.

In the third set, Snipers made several substitutions and started dominating the proceedings.

They levelled the scores after an impressive showing in the third and fourth sets 25-11 and 25-12 respectively, and went on to win the decisive quarter.

They made no mistake winning the tiebreaker 15-12 to bag full points.

In another fixture, Blue Eagles walked over Bunda College who failed to turn up.

Eagles were awarded a 3-0 victory over three sets of 25-0.

CRVL general secretary Trust Mtegha said the women’s league has started with challenges.

“As a league we are very happy that the league has commenced despite having no sponsors, “said Mtegha.

In men’s league, Kamuzu Barracks and Lilongwe Spikers started the second round with victories.

KB beat Snipers 3-0 after winning three sets 25-13, 25-19 and 25-12 while Lilongwe Spikers saw-off Mipuniro Spikers 3-1.

Bunda College failed to turn up for their game against Don Bosco and the latter won 3-0.

In the youth league, Lilongwe Smashers beat Grace Spikers 3 – 2 while Prison thrashed Blue Eagles Youth 3-0.
