Snr Chief Makanjira dies

One of the prominent chiefs in the country, Senior Chief Makanjira from Mangochi has died after a short illness.

In the statement, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development disclosed that Makanjira died at his home in Mangochi on Wednesday.

The statement further reads: “Senior Chief Makanjira was born Ajida Matola Mjase on January 1 1948. He was installed as T/A Makanjira on May 27 1989 and was elevated to Senior Chief Makanjira on March 1 2008.”

Makanjira will be laid to rest on October 10 at his headquarters in Makanjira, Mangochi.
