Soche East murder case committed to High Court

The Blantyre Magistrate’s Court has committed to the High Court a case in which two men are suspected of murdering a man at his Soche East home in Blantyre.

The two, Timothy Sinalo and Kenneth Chimwanga appeared before the Blantyre Magistrate’s Court last Friday where a murder charge was read out to them and committed to the High Court later for trial.

The two stand accused of murdering a 51-year-old Richard Nsamala, an employee of IndeBank, between August 25 and 26 this year.

Nsamala was buried within his house compound in a waist-deep pit, allegedly by his house servant Sinalo and his co-accused, Chimwanga.

The High Court in Blantyre is expected to set a date for the murder trial which carries a maximum death sentence.

The two were on the same Friday slapped with a two-year-and-four-month jail term, each, on their own plea of guilty for stealing Nsamala’s car.

Police told the court the car was stolen after Nsamala was murdered.

Sinalo allegedly connived with Chimwanga to murder his boss and steal his car thereafter.

Police exhumed Nsamala’s body last Wednesday after the two allegedly confessed to his killing.

The two were arrested from their hideout in Bvumbwe, Thyolo, when T/A Bvumbwe, suspicious of four people who had a car, tipped off the police.
