Soldier’s Time dawns Feb

Soldier Lucius Banda has iced the release of his 17th album, Time, to give it a little more sweeteners.

The self-styled ‘Soldier of the Poor’ hinted that singles from the release would be on air last month—just in time for a planned release later this year.

However, he told The Nation in an interview the album will not be on the market until February to ensure it has an international appeal.

“To be honest with you, Time will not be out soon. I’m booked for shows until December. This means the album will be completed in January. It will be on the market by the end of December,” said Lucius.

He added: “I have a series of (16) albums which have been popular in Malawi only. Time presents another attempt to produce something that would appeal to both the local and international market.”

He disclosed that the album will arrive on the shelves at the same time as its video edition.

So far, the award-winning veteran has worked with the country’s elite producers—Ralph Ching’amba, Tapps Bandawe and Lulu—but he says the recordings will be perfected by Erik Paliani and the top flight studio hands in South Africa.

An astute guitarist and jazz player, Paliani is credited with producing albums of that country’s heavyweights, such as Hugh Masekela and Zamajobe.
