Some politicians ignore God—Njawala

Member of Parliament for Blantyre Kabula, Felix Njawala, has warned fellow politicians to avoid ignoring God because of power.

Njawala was speaking during finals of his K750 000 (about $2 500) sponsored choir festival at Chirimba Anglican Church last week.

The top four winners will record their songs at a studio as starting point of producing their albums.

Said Njawala: “Many politicians hardly get involved in church activities fully. Some go to church just to preside over a function and go. All this happens because of feeling great because of power. But as politicians, we also need to give our time to God.”

He said that was why he introduced the competition for all denominations in the constituency so that the youth have time to sing for God.

“I want the people of Kabula to sing for God in thanksgiving for what He does for us. I want the choirs to preach about the Lord through singing so that all people in the constituency know and accept God,” he said.

The competition attracted 72 choirs on registration and seven competed in the finals with South Lunzu CCAP emerging the best. And 98 choirs have already registered for next year.

Group village head Haji commended the MP for the trophy, saying people in Kabula constituency will get closer to God through the songs.
